NLP ~ A Subtle, Sensitive, and Sophisticated Approach

Subconscious Mind
Are we really in control of our minds and behaviors? Our subconscious mind is like an island poking up through the ocean. We may be familiar with the land, however, underneath the surface there is a lot more territory.
NLP differentiates and can tap into the “unconscious mind” to help separate what we are aware of and what we are not. In doing so, we are able to re-program ourselves – like a new app on our phones, providing the changes we would like to see for ourselves.
Conscious mind
What are you attending to now? Maybe you are reading these words, and maybe you are paying more attention to how your body feels. What is in the foreground and what is background? We are taking it all in – yes?
When we first learn to do something, we have to do it consciously. Do you remember learning to drive? It was difficult at first – then we are somewhat on auto-pilot. With a bad habit, or something you want to change, your conscious mind doesn’t need any more reasons to make the change, it’s the unconscious mind that needs to make that change, and sometimes it doesn’t know how.
It is like playing a record on a player over and over again. That is why it’s so difficult to change habits, and why processes like NLP are so successful.
